Common questions about the process
How long does the whole process take?
The self-serve part takes about 20 minutes: the psychometric test itself runs roughly 15 to 20 minutes, and the recommendations are generated straight after. Reading through the guides and building a college shortlist is what takes longer, and most families spread that over a few sittings rather than one. A counsellor session, if you choose to book one, is scheduled separately with the counsellor.
What does the psychometric test measure?
It measures interests using the RIASEC framework — Realistic, Investigative, Artistic, Social, Enterprising and Conventional — alongside aptitude and personality inputs. The after-10th version maps those results to stream fit across Science, Commerce, Arts and skill-first routes. The after-12th version maps them to undergraduate career paths instead. What it does not measure is your marks or your board performance; those are context you supply, not something the test scores.
Do I need to take the test before using the guides?
No. The stream guides, course guides, career profiles, college listings and admission guides are all free to read without taking the test or creating an account. The test is most useful when you are genuinely split between two realistic options and the reading has not settled it.
When should I involve a counsellor?
A counsellor is worth involving when the blocker is not information. The common cases are a disagreement at home about which stream to take, a student who is still stuck after the test and the guides, a decision with real financial consequences such as a private-college fee commitment, or a situation with constraints the tools cannot see. If you simply need to compare two courses on facts, the guides will get you there faster.
How accurate are the AI-assisted recommendations?
They are directional, not authoritative. Recommendations are generated from your responses and from published course, career and salary information, and they are meant to narrow a decision rather than settle it. Always verify eligibility, fees, cut-offs and deadlines against the official board, DTE or college source before you act, and treat any salary figure as an indicative range.
Is Beyond10th only for Maharashtra students?
The stream, course and career guidance applies anywhere in India. The admission-specific content — FYJC and CAP rounds, DTE polytechnic admission, SSC board timetables, and the junior-college and college listings — is Maharashtra-focused, so students in other states get the most value from the guidance and testing side and should check their own state portal for admission mechanics.
