What the assessment actually measures
A career test is only useful if you know what it is reading. Beyond10th combines three kinds of signal, because any one of them on its own gives a misleading answer — interest without aptitude produces frustration, and aptitude without interest produces burnout.
- Interests (RIASEC)
- The Holland RIASEC model sorts interests into Realistic, Investigative, Artistic, Social, Enterprising and Conventional patterns. It is the strongest single signal for stream fit after 10th, because it shows the kind of work a student is drawn to before job titles enter the conversation.
- Aptitude signals
- Verbal, numerical, logical and spatial reasoning indicators show where a student works comfortably and where a subject choice would mean fighting uphill for two years. This is what separates "I like it" from "I can sustain it".
- Personality-style inputs
- Big Five-style responses on structure, collaboration, risk and detail orientation. These rarely decide the stream on their own, but they explain why two students with identical marks thrive in very different environments.
What a psychometric test can and cannot tell you
It can narrow a wide, anxious decision into two or three defensible options, surface careers a student has never heard of, and give parents something concrete to discuss instead of assumptions. It cannot predict marks, guarantee an admission, or override the practical constraints of budget, location and seat availability. Students who answer as they think they are expected to will get a report describing that expectation rather than themselves — honest answers matter more than “good” ones.
This is also why Beyond10th does not use DMIT or any fingerprint-based method. Those claims are not scientifically supported. Everything in your report traces back to answers you gave.

How accurate is a psychometric career test?
A psychometric test is a structured starting point, not a verdict. It is most reliable at ruling out poor-fit directions and at surfacing options a student had not considered. It cannot account for family context, finances, local college access or a student answering as they think they should rather than honestly. Treat the report as evidence to discuss, and pair it with a counsellor conversation before any final decision.
Is psychometric testing the same as DMIT?
No. DMIT (Dermatoglyphics Multiple Intelligence Test) claims to read ability from fingerprint patterns and has no accepted scientific basis. Beyond10th does not use DMIT or any fingerprint-based method. Our guidance is based entirely on the student’s own responses about interests, aptitude and preferences, mapped to practical career options.
What age or class is the test for?
There are two versions. The after-10th test is built for Class 10 students choosing a stream, and reports on stream fit. The after-12th test is built for Class 12 students choosing an undergraduate direction, and reports on career-path fit with backup routes.
How long does the test take and what does it cost?
The after-10th assessment is 88 questions and most students finish in 15 to 20 minutes. You can start the test and see a preview free. The detailed report — stream fit after 10th, or career-path fit after 12th — is ₹499. A one-on-one counsellor session is priced separately by the counsellor, so confirm the fee before booking.
What do I actually get in the report?
A detailed report covering your interest profile, the streams or career paths that fit it best, the reasoning behind each recommendation, realistic backup options, and the next steps to act on. The point is a plan you can discuss with your parents, not just a score.
